Uwe Reich (born September 22, 1940 ) is a German racing car driver .

Career

Uwe Reich began in 1967 with regularity tests and hill climbs in motorsport. At the Nürburgring-Nordschleife he started with rally champion Peter Dieckmann in an Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1600. When the first official ADAC 24-hour race was announced in 1970, he and Manfred Herbertz took part in Group 2 in a Ford Capri, but did not finish. 1974 started Reich in the German racing championship. In 1979 he drove in the German Formula 3 and finished 21st in the overall standings. In 1980 he competed in the World Challenge for Endurance Drivers and again in the German Racing Championship, in which he also competed in 1981. He also drove in the Renault 5 Turbo Eurocup in 1981. In 1984 and 1985 he competed in the sports car world championship. In 1987 he drove in the Renault 5 Cup Germany and drove a Ford Sierra in three races in the DTM, finishing 36th in the overall standings. In 1988 he also drove in the German Renault 5 Cup. 1999-2000 he started in the Citroen Saxo Cup. In 2001 and 2003 he was present at historic racing events. In 2003 and 2004 he started in the Alfa Romeo 147 Cup Germany and finished 15th overall in 2004. Since 2005 he has competed in the German production car championship, which from 2006 is called ADAC PROCAR. He drove continuously in Division 3, which he won in 2008. 2009 was his last season in the series. He then took part in the Youngtimer Trophy races, where he shared an Audi 50 from Team KWL Motorsport with his son Marc-Uwe von Niesewand. He also competed 40 times in all 24-hour races at the Nürburgring from 1970 to 2012. In spring 2017, Uwe Reich announced the end of his career in motorsport.
