Uwe Schaarschmidt

Uwe Schaarschmidt (* 1943 ) is a German psychologist .

Life

After Uwe Schaarschmidt the university had acquired, he studied from 1963 to 1968 psychology at the Humboldt University in Berlin and ended the study with the diploma from. In 1972 he also received his doctorate from Humboldt University. After his habilitation in 1980, he became a full professor for psychodiagnostics at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1987 .

In 1982 he was in charge of the founding and then headed the Psychodiagnostic Center (PdZ), the only test publisher in the GDR that was assigned to the psychodiagnostics division of the psychological institute. Together with AW Fischer, he founded the COPING Institute - Psychological Diagnostics & Personnel Development in Vienna in 1992 .

In 1993 he received a professorship at the University of Potsdam . Until his retirement at the end of 2006, he held the chair for Personality and Differential Psychology .

Schaarschmidt held teaching and research activities at the Humboldt University in Berlin , at various universities in Latin America, at the Institute for Applied Developmental Psychology and Socialization Research in Berlin and at the University of Vienna .

Schaarschmidt's field of work encompassed personality , work and health under a differential aspect, performance and personality diagnostics. Most recently, teacher health was at the forefront of his work. The “Potsdam Study on Teacher Stress”, carried out by Schaarschmidt as the person primarily responsible, has received nationwide attention.

Focus

The focus was on the construction and application of methods of personnel selection and personnel development for various areas in business and administration ( assessment center procedures, selection tests, hearings, potential analyzes ). In addition, requirement and stress analyzes in professions with increased psychosocial stress ( teachers , nursing staff , doctors, employees of the police , prison and fire services) as well as the derivation and implementation of conditional and personal interventions. Personal psychological accompaniment and support of business start-ups, implementation of personality and health promoting as well as team building measures. The focus was also on coaching employees and managers from these areas.
