Václav Vydra (born January 7, 1956 in Prague ) is a Czech actor and voice actor .

Life

Václav Vydra is the son of the two actors Václav Vydra and Dana Medřická . His grandfather was the actor Václav Vydra . After graduating from high school, he successfully completed an acting training at the Prague Conservatory in 1977 . Afterwards he stood on several theatrical stages and played at the theater of Kladno and the theater of Mladá Boleslav . From 1979 to 1994 he was a member of the ensemble at Městská divadla pražská and since 1995 a permanent member of the Divadlo na Vinohradech , the theater where his mother played.

Already during his student days Vydra played regularly in Czech films. In 1973 he played a small supporting role in the family film Die Kirmes ist da, and in 1975 he played a supporting role in the crime thriller Motif for a Murder . Since then he has played in over 100 film and television productions, including international films such as Kaspar Hauser and Die Legende von Pinocchio . At the same time, he lent his voice as a voice actor for the dubbing of international feature films. In 1994 he spoke the character of Marsellus Wallace played by Ving Rhames in Pulp Fiction . Since 2005 he has also lent his voice to the giraffe Melman, originally spoken by David Schwimmer in the films Madagascar , Madagascar 2 and Madagascar 3: Escape through Europe .

Vydra was in a relationship with actress Dana Homolová for over nine years and married her until 1983. In his second marriage, he has since been married to the actress Jana Boušková .
