Christine Oestreicher
Christine Oestreicher (born October 29, 1940 ) is a British film producer and director who was awarded an Oscar in 1983 for her short film A Shocking Accident . Last year she was on the nomination list with her debut Couples and Robbers .
Life
Christine Oestreicher began her career in 1981 as a production assistant with the 50-minute documentary Chance, History, Art ... , which deals with iconoclasts like Luis Buñuel , Jackson Pollock and other artists of the past and present.
Even her first work as a producer brought Oestreicher in 1982 an Oscar nomination in the category “Best Short Film” for her film Couples and Robbers . However, she had to admit defeat to Paul Kemp and Shelley Levinson and their film Violet . She was nominated again at the 1983 Academy Awards, this time with her film A Shocking Accident , again in the “Best Short Film” category, and received the Oscar.
In the fantasy short film The Cooler , Oestreicher worked with Ringo Starr and his wife Barbara Bach as well as with Paul and Linda McCartney . In 1983 Oestreicher reunited the long-term drama Every Picture Tells a Story with director James Scott, with whom she not only realized her Oscar-winning romantic short film comedy A Shocking Accident , but also worked as a production assistant on her first film. Oestreicher again worked with James Scott in the 1990 comedy Liebesulette . Robert Lindsay and Molly Ringwald play the leading roles in this film in which a penniless couple tries to hit the jackpot in Monte Carlo.
The Art of Memory is the title of a documentary in which Oestreicher presents fifty-four works by contemporary British letter artists based on the theme of memory and loss. The works offer a variety of different ways of creating letters and include writing on sundials, benches, roughly hewn stones as well as gravestones or memorial plaques, as well as on arches and menhirs .
