Vårgårda is a town in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the historic province of Västergötland . It is also the capital of the municipality of the same name .
The Säveån River flows through the village and European route 20 passes it. The name of the place for the first time in 1420 as Walgaardha mentioned later in 1546 Waargaare written. However, he was referring to a nearby estate that later gave the place its name.
history
To the north of the village is the Kyllingakullen burial ground near the church of Kullings-Skövde. It consists of ten burial mounds with a diameter between ten and 32 meters, four stone settings with a diameter of eight to 16 m and 18 building stones , the largest of which is in the village.

The automotive supplier Autoliv was founded in Vårgårda in 1953 , and today there is a production facility for airbags on site, as well as a test site for crash tests and driver assistance systems.
