The Säveån is a river in the Swedish province of County of Västra Götaland .
It has its origins in Lake Säven , between Borås and Vårgårda . From there it flows first in a westerly direction, then in a northerly direction. At Vårgårda it turns to the southwest, passes Alingsås and flows through the lake Mjörn . It then continues its course in a southerly, then in a westerly direction. The cities of Lerum and Partille lie on its course. Finally it flows into the Göta älv in Gothenburg .
The river length including source rivers is 130 km. The catchment area covers 1475 km².
