Velo d'Or
The Vélo d'Or ( French for Golden Bike ) award is a tribute to the world's best racing cyclist of the season. The election by international sports journalists has been organized annually since 1992 by the French cycling magazine Vélo Magazine .
The election as World Cyclist of the Year also illustrates the outstanding position of the Tour de France as the most important cycling race in the world: the winner of the tour often landed on one of the two first places.
