Véronique Cayla (born July 5, 1950 in Saint-Cloud ) is a French culture and media manager . She is the president of arte France.

Life

Cayla is the daughter of a mining engineer. She attended the Lycée Janson de Sailly in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. She then studied at Sciences Po , where she obtained the Diplôme d'études approfondies (DEA) in the field of urban planning .

In 1973 she started as a consultant at the Fonds d'Intervention Culturelle . After further positions, she became a consultant in the French Ministry of Culture in 1978 . She then worked at various levels for the Vidéothèque de Paris. From 1989 to 1992 she was Director General of the institution. From 1992 to 1998 she was director general of the MK2 media group. From 1999 to 2001 she was a member of the Audiovisual Development Council (CSA). In 2001 she took over the management of the Cannes International Film Festival and in 2005 the general management of the film promotion company ( Center national du cinéma et de l'image animée , CNC).

She was initially a member of the board of directors of arte France and chairwoman of the general assembly of arte. In January 2011 she became President of the Franco-German cultural broadcaster ARTE GEIE (she replaced Gottfried Langenstein ) and in the same year she became President of arte France.

Cayla is married to the head of Euronews , Philippe Cayla , and has two children.
