Víctor Manuel Leites

Víctor Manuel Leites (born March 3, 1933 in Paysandú , Uruguay , † April 12, 2016 ) was a Uruguayan playwright and journalist .

Leites, who wrote news and reviews in the entertainment sector as a journalist for daily newspapers such as El Popular , Ultima Hora , De Frente and El Día as well as the weekly newspapers Brecha and La Democracia for at least 25 years , was a playwright with his work on television in the 1960s can be seen in Canal 5 , where Francisco Espínola directed it. Later his pieces were in the Club de Teatro , the Teatro Circular , the Teatro de la Gaviota , the Casa del Teatro and the Comedia Nacional , but also abroad in Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Mexico and Spain and the USA to see. At Comedia Nacional he also held the position of Artistic Director ( Director Artístico ) from 1991 to 1993 .

He was awarded the Premio Florencio for three of his pieces . These were Doña Ramona , El reformador and El loco Julio .
