The Völklinger Kreis e. V. - Federal Association of Gay Executives (VK) is the professional association for gay managers , entrepreneurs and freelancers . The aim of the UK is to achieve a non-discriminatory working and living environment for gay leaders. Lesbian entrepreneurs are organized in a separate association, the Wirtschaftsweibern.

The initiative was started in 1990 by a board assistant from Völklingen . The association was founded in Hamburg in September 1991, and its federal office has been in Berlin since 2007. The approximately 700 members are organized in 14 specialist groups and 21 regional groups:

At the European level, the UK and the Wirtschaftsweiber work together with the following gay and / or lesbian partner organizations, with which they have been affiliated since 2005 in the umbrella organization European Gay and Lesbian Managers Association (EGMA): AGPro (Austria), L'autre cercle (France ), Network ( Switzerland) and Primo (Italy).

Max Spohr Prize

The VK awards the Max Spohr Prize every two years . This prize is awarded under the patronage of the current Federal Minister of Justice to companies that operate excellent diversity management and present best practice examples in the German economy. The VK also carries out a biennial diversity study, which is used to monitor and record the state of development of diversity management in the German economy. The prize has been awarded to two employers on an equal footing since 2010, and since 2012 to one employer each from the public and private sectors.
