from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The VDI-Gesellschaft Bauen und Gebäudetechnik (VDI-GBG) is a specialist society of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). It offers engineers from the fields of architecture , civil engineering , technical building equipment and facility management a professional home. The network of members comprises around 17,000 of around 150,000 VDI members and is supported regionally by the 45 VDI district associations.

Goal and tasks

The VDI-Gesellschaft Bauen und Gebäudetechnik aims to improve the interaction of all the experts involved in the planning, construction and operation of buildings and thus to increase the quality of the structures. In addition to the work in the four departments, cross-cutting issues such as digitization (e.g. BIM ), resource efficiency in construction and building + health are therefore in the foreground of the joint activities. For the next generation, the VDI-Gesellschaft offers the Integral Planning (VDI-WIP) competition , in which student members can participate annually.

The specialist bodies of the VDI-Gesellschaft Bauen und Gebäudetechnik are the magazines Bauingenieur and HLH .

The VDI-GBG is the publisher of around 200 VDI guidelines , which are created in voluntary joint work and regulate important issues in construction. Specific training courses and certifications are offered for some of these VDI guidelines in order to improve the quality of the work results.

The VDI-GBG is the publisher of the following VDI manuals:

  • architecture
  • Elevator technology
  • Construction engineering
  • Electrical engineering and building automation
  • Facility management
  • Product data exchange
  • Ventilation technology
  • Clean room technology
  • Sanitary engineering
  • Heat / heating technology
