The vr bank Südthüringen eG is a German cooperative bank in the region south Thuringia headquartered in Suhl ( Thuringia ).
The bank is affiliated with the protection scheme of the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks .
history
The oldest known forerunners of the bank were founded in 1862 as a savings and advance payment association in Schleusingen and Hildburghausen. On December 10, 1864, the savings and advance payment association was founded in Suhl. In the years that followed, up to 1900, further regional cooperative banks were established, which underwent numerous mergers during the 20th century. In August 2000, Volksbank Suhl-Hildburghausen was merged from Volksbank Suhl and the surrounding area and Volksbank Hildburghausen. In 2004, Volksbank Suhl-Hildburghausen and Raiffeisenbank Hildburghausen merged to form vr bank Südthüringen. In 2007, vr bank Südthüringen merged with Volksbank Ilmenau.
