Vacaville is a city in Solano County in the US state of California , United States , with 94,800 inhabitants (as of 2004 ). The urban area has a size of 70.1 km².

history

The town was originally built on land that was transferred from Manuel Cabeza Vaca to William McDaniel in August 1850 . The original property was recorded on December 13, 1851.

The town was a Pony Express station and was home to many large businesses and farms that settled here due to the rich soil of the Vaca Valley.

Geography and environment

There are a number of rare and endangered plant species in the Vacaville area. Some of these endangered plants that have historically been found in the spring basins in and around Vacaville are Legendre limosa , Plagiobothrys hystriculus, Downingia humilis, Contra Costa goldfields (Lasthenia conjugens), and showy Indian clover (Trifolium amoenum). To date, Trifolium amoenum can be found in the Lagoon Valley Regional Park .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of ​​74 km². 99.26% of the area is land and only 0.74% is water. With the exception of the Putah South Canal and smaller local streams, Lagoon Valley Lake (0.42 km²) is the only significant body of water in the city.

The unregistered parishes of Allendale and Elmira are generally considered to be part of the greater Vacaville.

The city includes two hospitals, NorthBay VacaValley Hospital , a 50-bed facility whose campuses also include the NorthBay Cancer Center and HealthSpring Fitness Center, and Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center , a hospital and an accident center.
