Vadim Oswalt

Vadim Oswalt (* 1957 in Beirut ) is a German historian and history teacher .

Life

After high school in 1977 at the Goethe-Gymnasium (Frankfurt am Main) , he studied from 1978 to 1981 philosophy , art history and musicology at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich , from 1980 to 1981 at the University of Florence and from 1981 history, German and English studies at of the Eberhard-Karls-University of Tübingen . From 1983 to 1984 he was Assistant Professor at Trinity College Dublin at the "Department of Germanic Studies" In 1990, he laid the II. State examination and was teacher at the Karl-Maybach-Gymnasium Friedrichshafen . In 1995 he became a teacher in history at the PH Weingarten (since 2000 OSTR.) With a focus on modern and contemporary history and history didactics. After completing his doctorate in Tübingen in 1999 , he was awarded the Franz Ludwig Baumann Prize of the Upper Swabian Society for History and Culture in 2000 for his dissertation. Since 2004 he has been teaching as a professor for history didactics at the University of Giessen . Since 2008 he has been the spokesman for the Educational Science Network at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. Spokesman for Section 2 “Media and Didactics” in the Center for Media and Interactivity. In 2014 he was appointed Herder Chair by the Herder Institute Marburg .

His main research interests are the didactics of the history of space, history maps, new media in historical teaching and learning processes, images in historical learning, theory of historical teaching and learning and modernization processes in the 19th century.
