Vaginal Jesus was an American right-wing extremist hatecore and metal band.

history

Vaginal Jesus was founded in North Branford , Connecticut in 1988 by Jim Crow. In the same year the band played in Connecticut in the opening act for the band Anal Cunt on their first tour. Vaginal Jesus was greeted on the first Anal Cunt EP, the 88 song EP . According to Anal Cunt's Seth Putnam, the band initially consisted of "just a few friends who were hanging out at some house." In January 1990 the band finally decided to record a 7 ”single. This contradicts Crow's statement in Freyja (Issue No. 6, 1998) that Vaginal Jesus was "a project that existed for about a year". Her first single, Jesus Saves… His Pennies, was released in 1992 on Swasticore Records from Chicago, Illinois. In 1993 Reich-O-Rama Records from Milford released the successor Beat Rodney Down .

In 1995 Jim Crow founded the side project Mudoven. In 1996 Vaginal Jesus was represented on the sampler Leaderless Resistance - A Pan Aryan Compilation alongside bands such as Bound for Glory , No Remorse and Freikorps .

Until the end of the 1990s, the band was an insider tip in the right-wing extremist scene due to the recordings only available as a single, but this changed with CD releases. In 2000, Affirmative Apartheid appeared with, among other things, the material of the singles on Tri-State Terror Records. In 2002 a reprint appeared on Unholy Records.

In 2003, Anal Cunt's Seth Putnam announced that Vaginal Jesus could perform live the following year, the first since the 1988 performance. Originally, Putnam only admitted that Anal Cunt played Vaginal Jesus songs live and that both bands were friends. He later came out to the American right-wing rock magazine Resistance (issue no. 25, winter 2005/2006) as a member of Vaginal Jesus. He posed with ex-Anal-Cunt members John Kozik and Tim Morse for a group picture of the band. Putnam died of a heart attack on June 11, 2011 at the age of 43 . Before his death, the first Vaginal Jesus concert in 22 years was planned, which should have taken place on August 13, 2011.

Music and lyrics

According to Ingo Taler, Vaginal Jesus is committed to a “symbiosis of Nazi glorification and hardcore music ” and, with its “crude mixture of pornographic , racist and anti-Semitic content”, is one of “the most 'bizarre' manifestations” of the international right-wing extremist scene. Jim Crow described Vaginal Jesus as a "racial hatred thrash band". The Fanzine White Supremacy (Issue No. 2, 2000) described Vaginal Jesus as "a badly fucked-up bolt [...] with a slight GG Allin touch (especially vocally)". He himself is "therefore logically extremely enthusiastic, even if otherwise only very few people will like it." He recommended Affirmative Apartheid , on which "28 songs are scrubbed down within 37:27 minutes", to all those who "like it [...] rather Grindcorig ". Taler mentions “exuberant reviews” from the German right-wing extremist scene, including those from Rock Nord (Issue No. 60/61, June / July 2000), according to which Affirmative Apartheid “definitely is the most radical thing a band has ever put on paper is is. According to Taler, their “pornographic derailments” are unusual, which, according to Taler, can be explained by Putnam's involvement. Taler counts their releases “among the most extreme productions in the white power area”, with which the band “achieved cult status” with their radically formulated lyrics. In the scene she is known for "for offensive texts, offensive layout, and for not sparing anyone," as an editor of the Resistance magazine wrote. He could understand that "a lot of people reject everything from this band 'on principle', but you have to learn to look at this group loosely, to recognize their humor". Because of the pornographic texts, the band has "the image of a racist 'fun project'". Putnam himself said Vaginal Jesus made Skrewdriver sound "like the most unracial band ever". The band sees the partly humorous content as part of its concept and defends it as such:

“Should we perhaps sing about the exact same stuff everyone else is doing, using words like 'the Zionist threat' or other less clear terms for Jews ? Same goes for niggers . We mean what we write about seriously, only sometimes it is done with humor [.] "

- Seth Putnam : Resistance , No. 25, Winter 2005/2006, p. 40.

According to Taler, Jesus Saves… His Pennies is the first Nazi production on the US scene. The publication is “unusually extremely pornographic” for the scene at the time, which is probably due to Putnam. On the cover , Jesus Christ is portrayed as a greedy Jew who carries his cross and bends down for a coin, and in the song Jesus Was Nothing But a Jew is insulted. In Coon Bashing , the gassing of Jews is glorified and attacks on " niggers " are announced. Swastikas are depicted on both sides of the single .

On Beat Rodney Down , the abuse of Rodney King by the police is glorified and called for imitation. In Mocha Mistakes the band propagates the “purity of the white race” and speaks out against sexual intercourse between blacks and whites and “mixed race” as a result. The A side of the single is titled Side Aryan and is illustrated with a swastika, double Siegrunen and portraits of Adolf Hitler . The B-side , titled Side Bigot , represents a march of the Ku Klux Klan .

The CD Affirmative Apartheid was described in the Thiazi Forum as “a single network against Jews and gays that does not contain any unusual statements”. According to Taler, the "special appreciation [...] is also due to the special artwork of the cove [sic!], On which a burning swastika is depicted".
