The Val Nandro ( Romansh val , valley ' and Nandro , first documented in 1478 Andraw, Underaw , probably a medium-Latin honoratum for, honor feudal' to latin fees , honor ' , Romanesque undrar ) is a valley in the Swiss canton of Grisons in Savognin in the municipality Surses . It is 5.3 km long and up to 4.6 km wide.

Location and surroundings

The Val Nandro valley is a left side valley of the Oberhalbstein and extends from Radons ( 1866  m ) to Tigignas ( 1563  m ). Inside, the valley is divided into two side valleys: the Val Curtegns on the right and the Val Schmorras on the left . The valley is enclosed on the left by Piz Cartas ( 2712  m ) and Piz Martegnas ( 2680  m ), on the right by Piz Arblatsch ( 3202  m ) and Piz Arlos ( 2696  m ), and inside by Piz Mez ( 2717  m ).

The Val Nandro is traversed by the Ava da Nandro , which later becomes the Schletg and flows into the Julia at Savognin .

The road that comes from Riom and Parsonz leads through the whole valley to Radons and is free for general traffic in summer, but there are no public transport lines . In winter the road is used as a ski slope or winter hiking trail.

The hamlets in Val Nandro are called Radons , Tigia , Manziel , Malmigiucr , Fotgs and Tigignas from the inside out .

Ski Area

Former logos of the Savognin Bergbahnen when it was still called Nandrò-Bergbahnen AG Savognin .

The Savognin Bergbahnen ski area is on the left side of the valley . The company was founded on May 25, 1962 as "Nandrò Ski- und Sessellifte Savognin-Piz Martegnas AG". The name Nandrò got the company from the Val Nandro. The name Nandrò-Bergbahnen AG Savognin remained the company's official name until December 1998. In the summer of 1962, Nandrò AG built three transport systems at the outer end of the valley without the help of helicopters : a 2- seater chairlift from Savognin to Tigignas, a ski lift from Tigignas to Somtgant and another ski lift from Somtgant to Piz Martegnas . In 1966 a ski lift at Stanegn and a ski lift at Naladas were added, in 1969 and 1970 a gondola lift that led from Savognin across the Val Nandro to Radons and two ski lifts in the back of the Val Nandro from Radons to Piz Cartas .
