Valentin Wilhelm Forster (also: Förster ; * 1574 in Marburg ; † October 29, 1620 in Wittenberg ) was a German lawyer .

Life

Born as the son of Valentin Forster , he attended the pedagogy in Marburg in 1589 and began his first studies there. He moved to the University of Wittenberg on September 2, 1594 . After his promotion to Doctor of Law in 1598, he worked in Wittenberg and at the University of Helmstedt as a lecturer. In 1608 he was accepted as an adjunct at the law faculty in Wittenberg and worked as a lawyer in Wittenberg. In 1609 he took over a professorship at the institutions and thus became an assessor at the court court and assessor at the Schöppenstuhl . In 1615 he became rector of the academy.

Forster earned a reputation both as an academic teacher and as an author of specialist publications. This shows an admiration for the French jurists, especially Hugo Donellus , who indirectly determined his education. The scholar constantly struggled with material concerns as he sought to protect his large family from financial hardship.
