Valeska Bolgiani

Melanie Henriette Charlotte Caroline Valeska Bolgiani (née Müller, also Valeska Voigtel-Bolgiani; born March 26, 1830 in Minden ; † October 2, 1876 in Milan ) was a German writer . She published her works under the pseudonym Arthur Stahl .

Life

Bolgiani was the only daughter of the Prussian staff officer Friedrich Müller and spent her youth in Westphalia. In Magdeburg in 1854 she married the lawyer and MP Albert Voigtel (* 1809), whom she regularly accompanied to Berlin during MPs . From 1863 Bolgiani wrote novels and short stories. As a widow, she retired to Italy in 1868, where she lived in her villa on Isola Bella in Lake Maggiore and translated her works into Italian. Shortly before her death, she married the Italian officer Bolgiani, with whom she moved to Milan. She died in a madhouse in Milan in 1876.
