The Valfagehrbahn is a detachable 6-seater high-speed chairlift with hoods and heated seats from Stubner Tourismus GmbH & Co KG with the valley station ( 1663  m above sea level ) on the Alpe Rauz  ( 1629  m above sea level , on the Arlbergpassstrasse ) and renewed in 2005 the mountain station ( 2281  m above sea level ) at the Pfannenkopf near the Ulmer hut  ( 2288  m above sea level ).

The Valfagehrbahn serves as a feeder to Galzig and on to St. Anton from Alpe Rauz and is located in the Ski Arlberg ski area .

As early as 1961, the supervisory board of the Stubener Berbahnen Gesellschaft.mbH discussed the construction of a railway at this location. In 1980 the first lift was a detachable three-seater chairlift that connected the Albona ski area with the St. Anton am Arlberg ski area (Tyrol). In 2005 the Valfagehrbahn was modernized to replace the old chairlift. After the four-month renovation, the new 6-seater chairlift was officially opened on January 21, 2006. In 2008 the snow-making system was expanded (construction of a storage pond at the Pfannenkopf mountain station) with a volume of around 75,000 m 3 , new pumps and pipes, etc.

The parking areas for cars and buses have been expanded considerably as part of the renovation.

Technical specifications

The Valfagehrbahn was completely renewed in 2005 after many years of discussion and preparation. For years, the transport capacity has been considered insufficient to meet the number of passengers. By converting the system, the total capacity of the system's conveying capacity has been increased by almost two thirds compared to the previous one.

During the modernization of the railway in 2005, the existing concrete basement floors of the mountain and valley stations were preserved and various changes and additions were made.

Technical data of the new system

The new detachable 6-seater chairlift was obtained from. Leitner in Sterzing , Italy built,

  • Cable height in the valley station: 1663 m
  • Cable height in the mountain station: 2280 m
  • Difference in altitude: 617 m
  • Operating length ( inclined length ): 2188 m
  • Conveyor rope diameter: 52 mm
  • Supports : 20

Up to 700,000 people are transported on the Valfagehrbahn per winter season. There is a covered conveyor belt and a short drag lift for access to the valley station .
