economy

In earlier times, the residents of Allende lived on the produce of their fields and gardens as self-sufficient . Gradually, small traders, artisans and service providers of all kinds also settled in the city. Agriculture (especially fruit growing ) still forms the basis of the municipality's economic life.

history

The place was founded in 1574 as a mission station of the Franciscan Order under the name Valle de San Bartolomé . It was a little off the great silver roads in northern Mexico.

Attractions

The first parish church existed as early as the 16th century; However, today's church of San Bartolomé y Nuestra Señora del Rosario comes largely from a new building that was started in 1702. The portal made of stone and the bell storey of the tower top are remarkable . The single-nave building, spanned by a wooden beam ceiling resting on candle arches , has a transept and a crossing dome on an octagonal floor plan.

Others

Several large iron meteorites fell in the municipality of Valle de Allende in the 19th and 20th centuries , some of which can be seen in the foyer of the Palacio de Minería in Mexico City.
