Valravn , which means “raven of the dead”, was a Danish pagan folk band that reinterpreted traditional folk songs from Denmark , Iceland and the Faroe Islands . In addition to traditional instruments such as nyckelharpa , viola , davul , flutes and various percussion instruments, she also used electronic samples and keyboard elements. In addition, the band not only rearranged old songs, but also composed their own pieces. The band split at the end of 2013.

Appearances

In Germany they appeared at the Spectaculum mundi in Munich, the Festival Mediaval , the Feuertanz Festival at Burg Abenberg in 2013, the Bardentreffen 2010 in Nuremberg, the TFF Rudolstadt and the Pump in Kiel. In 2010 they played at the Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig. Internationally, they performed in Norway, Finland, Belgium and Switzerland.

After the separation

After the split in 2013, the band members said they went "their own way". Singer Anna Katrin Egilstrøð began to study music composition and started her own project "AKAT". Juan Pino, the band's percussionist, sings his own songs with his band Juan Pino & Quemando Palabras and gives percussion lessons in Copenhagen. Dj Christopher Juul continues to work in his studio in Copenhagen and helped the band Euzen produce their new album. In 2014 Christopher Juul founded the band Heilung together with Kai Uwe Faust . Søren Hammerlund continues to play with the bands Virelai and Asynje, together with Martin Seeberg. Martin is part of other projects such as Trolska Polska or Forest Beat.
