The Pocono 400 is one of two races held annually by the NASCAR Sprint Cup at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond Pennsylvania . The Pocono 400 usually takes place in June, the other race in Long Pond, the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 , usually takes place in July around six weeks after the Pocono 400.

The Pocono 400 replaced the 400-mile race at Texas World Speedway in 1982. From 1997 to 2009 the race had no title sponsor. From 1982 to 2011, a race distance of 500 miles was driven. They have been driving 400 miles since 2012.
