Vanilda "Val" dos Santos Leão (born February 12, 1977 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian beach volleyball player .

Career

Val Leão has been playing with various partners at national and South American tournaments since 1999. From 2006 to 2008 Maria Antonelli was her partner. In 2007 Antonelli and Leão reached first place twice in four FIVB Challenger & Satellite events, once each they came second and third. In 2008, the two South Americans reached the final of the World Tour for the first time , which they lost to Stephanie Pohl and Okka Rau in Marseille . In Kristiansand Antonelli and Leão won their first gold medal on the tour, their final opponents were Nila Ann Håkedal and Ingrid Tørlen from the host country. In 2009 Leão played with Renata Ribeiro . At the Grand Slam in Moscow , Ribeiro / Leão were in the final. They also achieved a third and several fifth places on the World Tour. In 2010 Leão formed a duo with Ângela Lavalle , with whom she won the 2011 military world championship in Rio. From 2011 to 2013 Leão only had sporadic missions. Since 2014 she has been playing at tournaments in Brazil alongside Josi Alves , Renata Ribeiro, Ângela Lavalle and others.
