Vanilla Sky is an Italian pop punk band from Rome, founded in 2002 .

history

Vanilla Sky was founded in Rome in 2002 by four friends who had previously been active in other bands. After their EP "Play it if you can't say it" sold extremely well and all pressings were sold out after 2 months, the band was signed by Wynona Records in January 2003 . The first releases were split CDs with other Italian bands. In 2003 the album "Waiting for Something", recorded within 2 months in Rome and Pisa, was released and the band toured Europe for six weeks. The album sold more than 13,000 times in Italy, Germany and especially Japan within the first three months of its release . In the following years they played in Europe and Japan as the opening act for well-known bands such as B. Maxeen , Yellowcard , Coheed and Cambria , The Offspring , My Chemical Romance and Good Charlotte . On May 27, 2005, the debut album was finally released via Capitol Records in the USA, which quickly increased sales to over 25,000. The re-released EP sold over 5,000 copies. In the spring of 2006 Vanilla Sky went into the studio to record a new album. However, all of the recorded songs were destroyed shortly after the end of the recording, so that the band had to record everything again.

In 2007 Vanilla Sky signed a contract with Universal Music , the album "Changes" was released on June 22nd and in the fall of the same year the band surprised everyone with a cover version of Rihanna's song Umbrella , released as a single . Her latest studio album "The Band Not the Movie" was released in 2012.
