The Varreler Bäke is an approx. 6 km long, left-hand or southern tributary of the Ochtum in the river system of the Weser . It flows in the northern area of the Diepholz district ( Lower Saxony , Germany ) and in the southern area of ​​the state of Bremen .

The Varreler Bäke emerges from the Klosterbach , which flows south of Bremen in Lower Saxony through the towns of Bassum , Kirchseelte and Stuhr -Heiligenrode. From Stuhr- Varrel (Tölkenbrück) the cloister stream is given the name “Varreler Bäke”. This then flows a short distance in the district of Diepholz and then further on the border between Lower Saxony (city of Delmenhorst ) and Bremen (district of Huchting ). It flows into the Ochtum in the Strom district of Bremen .

There is still a water mill in Stuhr-Varrel .

Trivia

The ditch mentioned in the chorus of the song Delmenhorst by the Bremen band Element of Crime can only refer to the Varreler Bäke.
