Vasilios Petrakos

Vasilios Petrakos ( Greek Βασίλειος Πετράκος , often transcribed Basileios Petrakos ') (* 1932 in Piraeus ) is a Greek classical archaeologist .

Vasilios Petrakos studied in Athens , Lyon and Paris . The subject of his doctorate was the composition of the inscriptions from Oropos . During his career he was an Ephorus of Antiquities (for example, regional archaeologist ) in the northern Aegean , Delphi , Patras and in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens . Petrakos was awarded the honorary title Ephor of Antiquities hc . His most important research dealt with the Attic Demos Rhamnous as well as Oropos and the Amphiareion of Oropos . In addition, he dealt with the inscriptions from Oropos and Mytilene , the history of archeology in Greece and archaeological legal problems. He has been General Secretary of the Archaeological Society in Athens since 1988 . Since 2000 he has been a member of the Academy of Athens .
