Vassily Lobanov
Vassily Lobanov (originally Russian Василий Павлович Лобанов / Wassili Pawlowitsch Lobanow ; born January 2, 1947 in Moscow ) is a Russian pianist and composer .
Lobanov studied piano with Lev Naumov and composition with Sergei Balasanjan at the Moscow Conservatory from 1963 to 1971 . He also studied with Juri Cholopow ( musicology ) and Alfred Schnittke ( instrumentation ).
Piano duo (1982–85) with Swjatoslaw Richter . Piano trio (1977–1990) with Oleg Kagan and Natalja Gutman . Piano quartet (to this day) with Viktor Tretyakov , Juri Baschmet and Natalja Gutman. Numerous master classes for piano and chamber music. Since 1997 he has been professor for piano at the Cologne University of Music . Since 2016 Prof. Vassily Lobanov has been teaching at the Kalaidos Music Academy in Zurich. He has lived in Germany since 1991 .
He has composed operas, concerts, chamber and piano music.
Founder and artistic director of the Osnabrück Chamber Music Days (1997–2001).
