Vathy ( Greek Βαθύ ( n. Sg. )) Is a fishing village on the west coast of the volcanic peninsula Methana . The small port was important in ancient times , as the acropolis of the ancient city of Methana was only about 500 m south of it . This has already been described by Pausanias . The Paleokastro Acropolis is located on Almyra Beach , south of the port.

Vathy is now a popular marina and overcrowded on weekends.
