In proportion to its 74,651 inhabitants, the area sends two members to the Attic regional council, but has no further political significance as a local authority. It is divided into the eight communities Aegina , Angistri , Hydra , Kythira , Poros , Salamis , Spetses and Trizinia-Methana .
