The regional district of Karpathos and Kasos ( Greek Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Καρπάθου-Κάσου Periferiakí Enótita Karpáthou-Kásou ) is one of 13 regional districts in the Greek region of South Aegean . On the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010, it was formed as the Karpathos regional district from three island communities of the former Dodecanese prefecture and renamed in 2018. It corresponds exactly to the area of the former province of Karpathos, which existed until 1997. In proportion to its 7,310 inhabitants, the area sends a representative to the regional council, but has no further political significance as a regional authority. Today it is divided into the two island communities Karpathos and Kasos .
