The Velden road in the district town Düren ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ) is an ancient city road .

location

The road is partially expanded to four lanes and begins at Platz der Deutschen Einheit (the intersection of Tivolistraße / Schenkelstraße / August-Klotz-Straße since November 15, 2011 ). In Düren-Nord, at the transition to Birkesdorf, it becomes Zollhausstrasse. Veldener Straße is the extension of August-Klotz-Straße to the north.

Adjacent buildings

There are many listed buildings on Veldener Straße :

  • the back of the StadtCenter Düren with the driveway
  • the Nordpark, a green area with equipment for various leisure activities
  • the company Voith Paper GmbH & Co. KG, formerly Maschinenfabrik Banning und Seybold, later O. Dörries AG
  • a workshop building for Lebenshilfe

history

In the Middle Ages, Veldener Straße led out of the Philippstor to the Johanniter- or Malteser- Kommende Velden , which was founded in 1290 and which gave the street its name. The mill pond flowed to the west of the road and the Stadtbach to the east. Both streams drove different mills. Hence the former industrial development.
