The Association of Speechwriters in the German Language (VRdS) is the only professional association for speechwriters and ghostwriters in German-speaking countries. It was founded in 1998 on the initiative of the speechwriter Thilo von Trotha in Bonn .
tasks
The association provides information about the work of salaried and freelance speechwriters, among other things in politics , culture and business , arranges speaking assignments and positions, organizes meetings and conferences for speeches and other topics from PR and corporate communication or works as a cooperation partner and publishes studies and speech evaluations (campaign speeches and annual general meeting speeches of the DAX 30 companies), partly independently , partly in cooperation with institutions such as the German Press Academy (depak) , the Institute for Demoscopy Allensbach , the Saxon State Parliament , the DPRG , the University of Koblenz -Landau or media such as Wirtschaftswoche and Wirtschaftsblatt .
The association is committed to a qualified training for the freelance speechwriting profession and in 2014 for the first time developed and presented examination regulations for a uniform certificate. It represents the interests of speechwriters towards their clients and issues fee recommendations. Since June 2016, the association has been committed to improving the culture of debate in Germany.
organization
The association is run on a voluntary basis. The members elect a presidium every two years. Previous presidents were:
- 1998–2006: Thilo von Trotha , speechwriter, lawyer
- 2006–2010: Minita von Gagern, lawyer, speechwriter
- 2010–2016: Vazrik Bazil , communications consultant, speechwriter
- since 2016: Jacqueline Schäfer, journalist, media trainer, speechwriter
The VRdS is financed from membership fees of around 450 members from Germany , Austria , Switzerland and the German-speaking South Tyrol as well as from contributions from company and sponsoring members. The VRdS is registered as a lobby association at the German Bundestag. In addition, the VRdS is organized in regional groups in the regions Berlin , Hamburg , Cologne-Bonn, Wiesbaden-Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich .
