Verbolten in Busch Gardens Williamsburg ( Williamsburg , Virginia , USA ) is a steel roller coaster from the manufacturer Zierer Rides of the Elevated Seating Coaster model, which opened on May 18, 2012. It was built on the spot where the roller coaster The Big Bad Wolf was previously located.
Track layout
The 864 m long route has a 27 m high descent. The trains are accelerated using LSM . To be able to ride, passengers must be at least 1.22 m tall.
After leaving the station, the train makes several small exits and curves before accelerating and conquering further curves and exits inside a closed hall (show building). The interior of the hall is clichéd as a dark and dangerous Black Forest . The train comes to a stop in the hall before, after a few moments, it falls five meters down on a free-fall element first realized by Zierer. Another acceleration follows, which leads the train to the point where The Big Bad Wolf also made his final drop.
Theming
The name Verbolten is a combination of the German word Verboten and the English bolt . Bolt stands for lightning - shown in the logo of the attraction - but also for the verb to bolt , which describes the rapid driving style.
The facility is located in the German Oktoberfest theme area, but the storyline of the train transports passengers on an excursion through the Black Forest. In the waiting area, you walk through small rooms that are, for example, equipped with old timetables or historical advertising posters for the Black Forest region. Announcements regarding boarding precautions or safety aspects are spoken in English with a distinctive German accent. When the train arrives, you even hear a "goodbye". In keeping with the theme, the train fronts were designed based on the classic Porsche Targa .
