The Emmy Noether School , formerly Snedwinkela Realschule (SwR) , is a school founded in 1968 as a Realschule in Neuenkirchen (Steinfurt district) . It was the only secondary school in the community. She also had students from the surrounding communities, mostly from Wettringen and Hauenhorst . From the 2012/2013 school year it was the Neuenkirchen-Wettringen network school and from the 2015/2016 school year it is a secondary school .
history
The Emmy Noether School was founded in 1968 as a "secondary school for boys and girls". Since 1992 it was known under the name “Snedwinkela Realschule” (SwR). The name Snedwinkela was the original name for the peasantry from which the center of Neuenkirchen developed.
Verbundschule
At the suggestion of the municipality of Wettringen, in 2010 the idea of setting up a joint school was considered . Due to the declining number of pupils, the existence of the Friedens-Hauptschule in Wettringen was threatened in the long term. The Heriburg secondary school in Neuenkirchen also had to expect fewer pupils in the future. The municipal councils of Neuenkirchen and Wettringen decided to set up a composite school consisting of the two secondary schools and the Snedwinkela secondary school. The pedagogical concept was developed and the school caretakers of the three schools voted for the joint school. On June 19, 2011, the mayors of the two municipalities signed the public law agreement to form a network school from the 2012/2013 school year.
Secondary school
On January 23, 2015, the Münster district government approved the transfer of the previous network school to a secondary school , starting with the 2015/2016 school year. The secondary school cooperates with the Arnold-Janssen-Gymnasium in Neuenkirchen and the vocational college in Rheine. By resolution of the Neuenkirchen City Council on June 8, 2015, the school is named Emmy Noether School , named after the mathematician Emmy Noether .
Furnishing
The school has a large auditorium . A triple gym and a single gym are available for physical education . The classrooms are equipped with internet-enabled computers and have projectors and whiteboards . There are a total of three additional computer rooms. All computers are connected to the school server via an intranet .
principal
The first director of the school was Günter Beule from 1968 to 1991. In 1992 he handed over the office to Hans-Peter Bauma. Ulrike Eckrodt-Schmeing has been the headmaster since February 25, 2009.

Youth research
Thanks to suggestions from the teachers and with the support of the Friends' Association, an unusually large number of students at the school have been successfully participating in the Jugend forscht / Students experiment competition for several years . In the regional competitions in North Westphalia it has the second highest participation of a secondary school in the region with 51 entries. So far, several victories and many special prizes have been achieved in regional and state competitions. The best result so far was a second place in the national competition.
Gourmet fairies
About 40 women, mainly mothers of schoolchildren, are the so-called gourmet fairies of the secondary school. Since 2007, these women have been preparing breakfast rolls and fruit for the students and teachers on a voluntary basis. On February 13, 2011, the Schlemmerfeen were awarded the Neuenkirchen community award.
