Johannis publishing house

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The locust-Verlag was a Protestant publishing house in Lahr (Black Forest) , which after its insolvency in 2010 by SCM-Verlag was bought and there in the brand name Edition Johannis has risen.

In 1896, the St. Johannis printing house C. Schweickhardt was founded. For more than 100 years, the St. Johannis Printing Company has published works by influential authors on the Christian book market such as Anny Wienbruch , Ruth Heil , David Jaffin and Peter Hahne, as well as political figures such as Erwin Teufel and Wolfgang Schäuble and book series such as the Dinglinger paperback books . Besides Hänssler , Brendow and Francke , the publisher was also a member of the Christian publishing cooperation Edition C . In 1991 the publishing house of the Liebenzeller Mission (VLM) was bought up and continued as its own label under the name Edition VLM .

Despite successful individual titles like the end of funny with sales of 900,000 copies, the last publishing director Karlheinz Kern, just like the printing company or the secular Schwarzwald-Kalender-Verlag (SKV), which has since been added, was unable to stabilize the economically troubled situation until finally in June 2010 the bankruptcy was announced.

On September 10, 2010, SCM-Verlag was awarded the contract to take over the brand, publishing rights and inventory of Johannis-Verlag with the exception of the titles by Peter Hahne, which Karlheinz Kern had already included in his Media Kern publishing house . The name now lives on at SCM-Verlag as the Edition Johannis brand within its gift label SCM Collection .
