history
After the Second World War , various military accommodations were no longer required in the Swiss Alps. One of these buildings was in the Vermigel area in the Unteralptal, southeast of Andermatt, and in 1946 was left to the Zofingen section of the SAC for use and maintenance. The section equipped the hut with blankets, dishes and firewood and thus came to a base for 20 people. This accommodation was named Vermigelhütte. The hut was built on a rock wall, got little sunlight and was completely covered in snow in winter. As a precaution, a shovel was attached to the flagpole each autumn so that the entrance could be shoveled free. This hut is now privately owned. The stay in this hut was a damp and slightly moldy affair at the time.
Therefore, the desire for a hut in a sunny location soon arose. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the then head of the smelter, Robert Wülser, this dream came true in the 70s of the last century. In 1971, the first water supply was created. 1972 to 1974 the new hut was built thanks to hard labor and thanks to many donations. In autumn 1974 the new Vermigelhütte, it kept its name, was inaugurated on Sunnsbiel.
