Lost is a German television series that was commissioned by the German private broadcaster RTL and the Austrian broadcaster ORF .
action
The 20 survivors of flight AWX 2427 from Los Angeles to Tahiti are struggling to survive after a plane crash on an uninhabited island in the South Sea. In the meantime, they do not give up hope that they will ever be found again, even though the prospect is bad. This situation ensures a tense coexistence, made even more so by the fact that the only survivor of the crew - the copilot - caused the crash by a refueling error.
background
Lost was a commissioned production of RTL, executive production company was the teamWorx Television & Film GmbH . Production began in November 2003 on 2000 square meters in the television studios of the Magic Media Company in Cologne-Ossendorf .
The series was supposed to be established as the second weekly soap in RTL's program alongside Hinter Gittern - Der Frauenknast , but this did not succeed. Since it did not generate the market share that had been hoped for, it was initially moved from Monday evening to a new slot on Thursday and finally discontinued in April 2005 after the 29th episode was broadcast. Shortly before that, the role of Berthold Siebert , played by Andreas Zimmermann, was reassigned. Instead of the previously unknown actor Nils Liebscher , however, Zimmermann was still named in the credits.
Due to the almost simultaneous start of the very successful US television series Lost - which is based on the same basic situation, but is not designed as a soap, but rather in the area of drama / mystery - many critics and viewers suspected that the missing was a German version of the US series. However, since the production periods overlapped - filming of the RTL production began in November 2003, the US series was not broadcast until September 22, 2004 - it was not possible to sufficiently clarify which idea is a copy.
