The administrative community Oederan was an administrative community in the Free State of Saxony . It was located in the center of the district of central Saxony about 18 km west of the district town of Freiberg and about 20 km east of Chemnitz . The landscape of the former community area is located in the northern foothills of the Ore Mountains on the plateau between Flöha and Großer Striegis . The federal highway 173 and the Chemnitz – Freiberg railway line run through the former community area. The federal motorway 4 runs north of the former administrative area and can be reached via the Frankenberg junction (approx. 11 km).
With the incorporation of Frankenstein to Oederan on January 1, 2012, the administrative community was dissolved.
