Vicenç Piera i Pañella (also Vicente Piera Peñella ; born June 11, 1903 in Barcelona , † June 14, 1960 ibid.) Was a Spanish football player .

In his thirteen-year professional career, Piera was one of the best right wing strikers in the history of FC Barcelona and was nicknamed La Bruja (in German: The Witch).

Club career

Piera came in 1921 by the Catalan club Center d'Esports de Sants to FC Barcelona . He made his debut for Barça in January 1917, after playing a game for the youth team of FC Barcelona that morning. Joan Gamper was so convinced of his football skills that Piera was set up for the professional game on the same evening. In this game against Arenas Club de Getxo he came on for the injured Paulino Alcántara and promptly scored two goals to make it 3-1.

Piera played for Barça until 1934 and scored 123 goals in 395 games for the club, all games combined. During this time he won the Catalan championship ten times and the Spanish Cup with FC Barcelona . In addition, he helped Barça to win the first Spanish championship in 1929 , to which, however, he could not contribute in 13 games.

National team career

In the Spanish national team he played for the first time on December 17, 1922 in the win against Portugal . In total, he played 15 caps for Spain until his last appearance in 1931, scoring 2 goals.

In 1924, the Catalan took part in the 1924 Summer Olympics with Spain . There, however, was the end of the line after just one lap, as he and his team lost 1-0 to Italy.

Between 1924 and 1931 Piera also ran several times for the Catalan football team .
