Gustafsson started for the first time in February 2009 in Ulricehamn in the Scandinavian Cup . In the 2013/14 season he took part in the Australia / New Zealand Cup , in which after victories in two sprint races and a 10 km freestyle competition as well as second place in a 10 km classic race, the overall standings of the series for themselves decided. In 2014, Gustafsson became two-time Swedish champion in rollerskiing and won a team sprint in the World Cup together with Marcus Johansson in September 2014 . In summer 2017 he took third place in the overall ranking of the Rollerski World Cup . He achieved second place over 7.5 km classic on the mini tour in Madona . On the final stage, he ran the fastest time and came in second in the overall standings. At the Rollerski World Championships 2017 in Sollefteå , he achieved 13th place in the sprint and seventh place over 22.5 km freestyle. In the summer of 2018 he achieved two third, one second and two first places, second place in the overall ranking of the Rollerski World Cup and the following year third place in the overall ranking of the Rollerski World Cup . At the Rollerski World Championships 2019 in Madona, he won the bronze medal in the team sprint and over 20 km classic and the gold medal in the mass start race over 20 km freestyle.
