Victor Johann von der Forst

Victor Johann Hubert Maria von der Forst (born June 4, 1863 in Münster , Westphalia province ; † January 30, 1901 in Herten , Westphalia province) was a German painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Von der Forst, son of the Münster glass painter Victor Anton Clemens von der Forst (1834–1892) and his wife Maria Josepha Huberta, née Henning (1834–1894), attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1880 to 1882 . There Andreas Müller , Heinrich Lauenstein and Peter Janssen the Elder were his teachers. Von der Forst mainly worked for churches.

He married Pauline Laura Theresia Müller (1866–1944), the daughter of the cloth merchant Franz Gerhard Eduard Ernst Müller (1841–1895), in Düsseldorf on October 25, 1890 . The couple had a daughter and four sons. From Forst's sister Alwine (1869–1937) was the sister-in-law of the composer Engelbert Humperdinck .
