Vid Vrhovnik (born July 12, 1999 in Velenje ) is a Slovenian Nordic combined athlete .
Career
In September 2012 Vid Vrhovnik made his debut at the age of 13 in the Nordic Combined Alpine Cup , in which he started at irregular intervals over the next two years. He competed in the Continental Cup for the first time in a Gundersen competition in Planica on February 6, 2016. His best result so far in this competition series he achieved on January 8, 2017 with a 16th place in a competition in Høydalsmo, Norway .
In mid-January 2017 he made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup in Chaux-Neuve . At the end of November he achieved his first two point placements at the World Cup in Kuusamo with ranks 26 and 27.
Vrhovnik has already taken part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships several times . The best result was a ninth place in the team in Almaty 2015 and a 14th place in the individual in Park City 2017 . In the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Finland's Lahti he was in the team sprint together with Marjan Jelenko eleventh, in the individual competitions he did not come across the squares 49 on the normal hill and 47 on the large hill beyond.
At the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games , he competed in Nordic combined as well as cross-country skiing and ski jumping. In ski jumping he won gold in team competition with Ema Klinec and Bor Pavlovčič . At the Junior World Championships in February 2018 in Kandersteg , Switzerland , he won gold in the Gundersen competition on the normal hill and over 5 kilometers.
In the run-up to the Slovenian championships in December 2019, Vrhovnik seriously injured his knee, which forced him to end the season prematurely.
