Viktor Thorn (born May 11, 1996 in Ärtemark ) is a Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Thorn, who competes for Ulricehamns If, took part in the Nordic Scandinavian Cup in Östersund for the first time in January 2013 , finishing 104th in the sprint and 74th in the 15 km freestyle. At the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2013 in Predeal he came 42nd place over 10 km freestyle, 20th place in sprint and 14th place over 7.5 km classic. The following year he became Swedish junior champion in sprint and 10 km freestyle. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2014 in Fiemme Valley , he took 24th place in the sprint. His best placings at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty were 17th in the sprint and fifth in the relay. In the 2015/16 season he finished 11th in the overall ranking of the Scandinavian Cup. He came in Otepää with the sixth place over 10 km classic and fifth place in the subsequent pursuit for the first time in the Scandinavian Cup among the top ten. His best results at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2016 in Rasnov were ninth place over 10 km classic and fifth place with the relay. In March 2016, she became the Swedish junior champion in sprint, skiathlon and over 10 km freestyle. In the cross-country world cup he made his debut at the Tour de Ski 2016/17 , which he finished in 34th place. He got his first World Cup points in Oberstdorf with the 26th place in the skiathlon. At the 2017 U23 World Championships in Soldier Hollow , he finished 35th in the 15 km freestyle, 24th place in the skiathlon and eighth place in the sprint. At the 2017 World Cup final in Québec , he finished 37th. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he finished 40th in the 50km mass start race and 27th in the sprint.

In the 2018/19 season, Thorn finished ninth in the Lillehammer Triple, 18th in the Tour de Ski 2018/19 and 15th in the World Cup finals in Québec, making it 19th in the overall World Cup and 18th in the sprint world cup. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol , he ran to 20th place in the sprint, 12th place over 15 km classic and fifth place with the relay.
