In 1951, through a merger of SG Wertheim with SC 46 Eichel and SC 48 Wertheim, the sports association (SV) Wertheim was created . When the merger failed, the football club in the core town of Wertheim kept the name SV, while SC Viktoria Wertheim was founded in the Besteheid district in 1952 .
The SC Viktoria Wertheim played in the years 1964/65 in the 2nd Amateur League North Baden and after a promotion in 1965/66 for one year in the 1st Amateur League North Baden . Until the founding of the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg in the 1978/79 season, the 1st amateur league was the top amateur class and the third highest German division.
