Viktors Stulpins (born September 26, 1971 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is Bishop of Liepāja .

Life

Stulpins studied in the seminary of Riga and received on July 1, 1995, the priestly ordination . In 1996 he became pastor of the parish of Aizkrauklē. Since 2010 he has been Vice Rector of the Grand Seminary of Riga.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Liepāja on July 20, 2013. He was ordained bishop on September 7th of the same year by Edvards Pavlovskis , Bishop of Jelgava ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Riga , Zbigņev Stankevičs , and his predecessor, Jānis Cardinal Pujats . Stulpins was one of the youngest Catholic bishops in the world when he was ordained. He speaks of a "difficult task" as very few people in the area of ​​his diocese are Catholic. Therefore he plans to bring more people into contact with God in cooperation with the believers. On April 4th and 5th, 2014, Stulpins took part in an interdenominational conference on the subject of “Individuals and Family”.
