The pousada of Vila Pouca da Beira

history

The place first received city rights in the 14th century, which were confirmed by King Manuel I on December 20, 1519 . Vila Pouca received its addition da Beira in the 16th century to differentiate between place names with the same name. After it was the seat of an independent district until the beginning of the 19th century, the place belonged to this until the dissolution of the district of Avô in the course of the administrative reform of 1836, after which it belonged to the district of Lourosa . Since its dissolution in 1855, Vila Pouca da Beira has been a parish of the County of Oliveira do Hospital.

As part of the extensive public austerity measures and the announced amalgamation of numerous municipalities across the country, the dissolution of the independent municipality of Vila Pouca da Beira was announced. The district administration rejects the upcoming dissolution of their affected communities.
