José Luis de Vilallonga

José Luis de Vilallonga (born January 29, 1920 in Madrid , † August 30, 2007 in Port d' Andratx , Mallorca ) was a Spanish writer , actor and aristocrat .

Life

Vilallonga was a member of the nobility and an influential member of Spanish high society, on which he also reported as a journalist for the national press agency EFE . He has also written for magazines such as Paris Match , Marie Claire and Vogue . He is the author of the official biography of the Spanish King Juan Carlos , published in 1993.

The high point of his acting career was his role as José da Silva Pereira , a Brazilian multimillionaire with marriage intentions, in Blake Edwards ' Breakfast at Tiffany's . In addition, he mostly played roles that corresponded to his actual status.

Vilallonga, whose title also included that of Marqués de Castellvell , was married three times; with the British aristocrat Priscilla Scott-Ellis (1945–1972), with Syliane Stella Morell (1974–1995) and since 1999 with the journalist Begoña Aranguren. He left two biological children from his first marriage and an adopted son.

On the occasion of his death, the Spanish king also expressed his condolences.
