history

Villa Hailmann

The Villa Hailmann at Kurhausstrasse 26 was built in the years 1901–03 by the Austrian architect Antony Krafft , based in Geneva . It is a two-storey sandstone block building in Neo-Renaissance forms with a cut-off hip roof and central projections . The eastern central risalit is equipped with an aedicula motif .

The villa was built on behalf of the Commerzienrat Philipp Hailmann, whose family experienced economic expansion in the 19th century, as a spa and hotel. Philipp Hailmann died before the property was completed. After the death of his widow, the property fell into disrepair. This state of affairs did not end until after World War II , when the property became the property of the state in 1941.

An originally existing flight of stairs leading to the Luitpoldpark behind the property was removed in 1957. In 1958 a palm house on the south side of the property was demolished. In 1976 the iron balconies attached to the southern side faces were removed.

With effect from January 1, 1997, the State Building Department was housed in the Villa Heilmann . The property currently houses the water management office.

Outbuildings

The outbuilding of the property was also built in 1901–1903 as a residential building. The adjoining building is a two-storey red sandstone block construction in gray sandstone structure with a cut-off hipped roof and a southern dwelling with an ornamental gable. Its gable side is provided with a neo-renaissance apparatus in gray sandstone.
