The Villa Hermann Metzke is located on Straße des Friedens 55 in the Serkowitz district of the Saxon city of Radebeul . It was built in 1912 by the local construction company F. W. Eisold for the chemist Hermann Metzke, presumably according to plans by the Dresden architect J. Arthur Bohlig .

Villa Hermann Metzke

description

The building, which is a listed building along with its enclosure , is a "[a] elaborate two-storey villa with a heavily moved floor plan and elevation" and a high, developed hipped roof . In the main view, to the right of the center, there is a side elevation-like structure with a polygonal, tower-like roof attachment on its left side, this formerly with a dome overhanging the building with a tip, but today only with a flat tent roof . On the left in the main view, a short side wing protrudes over the line of alignment of the building. There is a söller between these two, in front of which there is a terrace with a balustrade on the ground floor and an outside staircase that leads to the main entrance. This consists of a round arch portal made of ornamental sandstone work.

In the right side view there is a side entrance under a canopy. In the left side view there is an arbor with a balustrade.

The plastered building has plenty of sandstone outlines and some decorative grilles. The windows, which formerly had shutters on the upper floor, are partially glazed with ornaments. The three-light windows on the ground floor of the main view is a richly ornamented robe framed of sandstone.

The enclosure is made of iron bars on a rusticated sandstone base.

history

The chemist Hermann Metzke had a villa built by the Serkowitz builder Wilhelm Eisold in 1912 , the plans of which presumably came from the architect J. Arthur Bohlig who worked for Eisold.

In 1926 the architect Max Czopka extended the building at the rear with a three-storey extension. The extension of a stairwell and the installation of attic apartments took place in 1934, which resulted in the conversion to a rental villa .

In 1972 the building was converted into a registry office.
