The Villa Sauermann at Friedrichstrasse 41 in Flensburg - Friesischer Berg is one of the city's cultural monuments . It should not be confused with the Villa Sauermann of the same name in the same district in Südergraben 47 . Originally, the neighboring garden house at Friedrichstrasse 39 also belonged to the property in Friedrichstrasse.

background

The villa was built in 1904 not far from the municipal museum with its main building called Heinrich-Sauermann-Haus and the Museumberg park area there , on an acute-angled property between Friedrichstrasse and Reepschlägerbahn . It was designed by the architect Albrecht Haupt for Heinrich Sauermann , who, however, died in early October 1904 before the construction work was finished. The cottage-like , single storey villa has a masonry of mainly red and some yellow bricks in which incidentally two terracotta plates with head medallions from the Renaissance facade of the broken in the 19th century building Große Straße 12 have been incorporated, which in the workshop of the sculptor Statius Duren made has been. The entrance side is on the east side facing the Museumsberg Park. On the south side towards the garden of the villa, there is a large window-door element to illuminate the living room of the villa. The neighboring garden house , Friedrichsstrasse 39, had already been built in 1901 by the architect Franz von Gerlach for the museum director Heinrich Sauermann. A neighboring was plastered 1907 Zwerchhaus added in the middle of the frontage. The Villa Sauermann was first inhabited by Ernst Sauermann , the son and successor of Heinrich Sauermann.
